When was the last time you explored your own backyard? Not the one behind your house, but your greater backyard - the city you live in, the vast area beyond your street.
Getting to know your own city or town on a deeper level is known as urban adventuring, and exploring secret spots and long-forgotten bushwalks will give you a renewed love of your hometown.
It’s common for people to overlook what’s in their own backyard in favour of adventuring overseas. Perhaps it’s because after a working week, even the weekends can become mundane and predictable, so when it’s time to book our holidays the appeal of far-off places is exciting. Yes - exploring a new country is awesome, BUT at the same time it’s important not to overlook our own magnificent country. We can easily go bushwalking on a weekend, explore suburbs we’ve never ventured into, biked along paths and tracks or take a run on a new path.
It’s time to get our spontaneity back! It’s time to go on some new adventures! If you’re uneasy about venturing out alone to begin with, you can try a walking or bike tour, or a popular beach trail along the coastline. When you’re feeling more confident, tackle those unknown tracks. Google can be your best friend – just type in “free outdoor adventures in Sydney” (*insert your home town here) and see what comes up!
Explore your own city – or an unfamiliar town – in a totally new way. Take roads you’ve never taken before and explore your environment with the most comfortable urban adventuring footwear – you know we’ve got the gear for it!
We’d love to know about your urban adventuring, so tag us in your posts on Insta using hashtag #urbanadventuring
Been a long term fan of Olukai shoes. No socks required. The way you can also wear the heel down, makes it easy to put on if required to put shoes on quickly like trying to get out the door with your pet on a straining leash. Very comfortable and surprisingly stylish.
